Mangaka: Hiro Mashima Title: Arc of Embodiment Rating: 8/10
Synopsis: Pyschopath Ultear kicks us off in this week’s Fairy Tail holding a knocked out Zeref close to her bosom, pronouncing, with a questionably peaceful smile on her face, that Zeref is now hers and she will not hand him over to anyone. (Okay, crazy. Whatever you say.) We quickly move back to saner waters as we return to the Evergreen X Elfman vs RustyRose fight.
These two, as you probably remember, were being beaten sadly last chapter, and that hasn’t seemed to have changed for this chapter as well. However they (especially Elfman) don’t care. He says the RustyRose “Erase those without magic and create a world for mages only? F*** THAT, you demented demon!” (okay, maybe he didn’t say you demented demon, but I was thinking it for him. lol). Shockingly, only 10% of the people that exist in the Fairy Tail world can use magic. The other 90% are muggles (HP references for the win!) That being said, Grimoire Heart legitimately wants to destroy 90% of the human life on earth 😐 Wow. And I thought the Death Eaters and Voldemort were bad. RustyRose shrugs this madness off saying that those without magic are as useless as candles that can’t burn, and so should not be allowed to live.
Elfman (he was REALLY epic this chapter btw, omg. Reminds me of the Element 4 arc when he learned to control The Beast) screams at him that it was the combined effort and support of every type of person that created this world. RustyRose scoffs at this notion and basically laughs at Fairy Tail and all other guilds that “coexist” and “help” the normal people. Error. You never EVER laugh at Fairy Tail. EVER. Elfman said it best in one of my favourite panels of the manga, “FAIRY TAIL WILL NEVER YIELD!!!! BECAUSE WE ARE GIANT CANDLES WHO SHINE LIGHT INTO ANY KIND OF DARKNESS!!!”
This is when the real fighting begins again, RustyRose uses his epic powers to transform his arm again and thrusts it out at Elfman. Just when we thought that Elfman might be missing his intestines, we realised that he had grabbed on to it and….(READ THE CHAPTER). Continuing on, suffice to say that Elfman manages to secure RustyRose’s glasses, which means that Evergreen can now petrify him freely. She uses her stone eyes and attempts to do so only to find out that RustyRose has his glasses again. But how? RustyRose beats the Fairy’s into the ground once more ( 😦 ) before revealing his true power, “Arc of Embodiment” (I’ll leave you to read the chapter to find out how it works). He then calls forth some kind of tower, The Tower of Dinger, which traps Elfman and Evergreen, and will supposedly “scatter them into the depths of darkness.”
Before this, there is an amazingly beautiful scene between Ever and Elfman where Ever apologises consistently for being the cause of Elfman’s failure. Elfman, in his awesomely manry (see: manly) ways assures her that it was only because of her that he came this far. (KYA! I think I’m really warming up to the EverXElfman idea strangely). But yeah, back to the subject on hand, There is a kind of a cliff hanger that Hiro induced himself, and we don’t know what happens to them (LIVE MY FAIRIES!! Don’t die on me!!!) We return to Natsu’s location where he gets a whiff of Ultear, recognizing her smell from their fight on Galuna Island. He storms off in her direction.
Best Character: ELFMAN!!! Hands down! He was really, reaalllyyy amazing in this chapter. The manliness was blinding me! If you’re a man then FLY LIKE A FAIRY!!! But seriously, just his refusal to give up, the way he really jumped in and actually kinda gave RustyRose a shock/run for his money, even if it was only for a brief second was brilliant. Especially since we all know that Elfman isn’t the strongest (not nearly). So I really felt the effort and the burning Fairy Tail fire in his manly soul. Loved it! Unfortunately there isn’t any really good artwork of him (where’s the Elfman love people?) so this is all I found. But I think he looks pretty cool and Elfman-like so I guess it doesn’t matter.
Worst Character: I shan’t go on another Ultear rant, so lol. This chapter was fairly safe. No sucky moments/characters here.
Likes: Elfman, Elfman, Elfman! You know why already. As well as Evergreen. I never knew she had such a cute side. It was adorable. And she really tried hard as well, even though the petrification failed I wish she had done more though. I mean she’s technically stronger than Elfman, as she is already S-class, and this chapter she was just kind of lying around taking hits, while Elfman got all the action. Her only really cool moment was when she tried to petrify. I guess that’s one of my dislikes.
Dislikes: The Evergreen thing, as you know and also RustyRose for being so powerful. Granted, he is one epic (insane) enemy. I shan’t say anything about She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named **cough** Ultear **cough**
More Chapter Ratings:
§eraph: 8/10 – The chapter was pretty great. Lots of interesting stuff going on. I hate Rusty Rose and that bitch Ultear. Can’t wait for the next chapter!
Random Rant Time: Ok, so I’m totally going out on a limb here. But that cover page should be forever immortalised. Why? Because Erza-sama is on it. Will I follow you dai-Erza-sama? Indeed, I will follow you to the depths of hell if I had to :|. I’m serious when I say I love this woman. And that cover page is toooooo cute/sexy!! Gahh!! So yeah, anyone interested in sending me a late birthday/valentine/early christmas present. I’m quite easy to please. Just find me a real life Erza. XD
