Mangaka: Hiro Mashima Title: The Door of Humans Rating: 7/10
Synopsis: This week’s Fairy Tail starts off rather slowly as it takes us back a bit to the remains of the Council ship that Azuma blew up quite some time ago. We are introduced to a certain Captain Laharl, who is trying to get everyone organised, i.e. the wounded treated, and those who can fight, ready for battle. Mest, whose real name is Doranbalt (personally, I think Mest is a much cooler and suitable name for him. I mean Doranbalt? Seriously Hiro? Sounds like a type of thunderbolt, or a crayola colour, or a chemical element -_- or I dunno…something strange. But I digress… what was I saying?) Oh yes, Mest, whose real name is Doranbalt, updates Laharl as to what is really going on, preparing to contact HQ.
Laharl is shocked to hear about the three-way battle between the big ‘uns, and including the Council’s most fated evil enemies and their #1 troublemakers. Laharl begins to shiver in disbelief, fearing that when the council hears about this battle between Zeref, Grimoire Heart and Fairy Tail, they will be tempted to unleash Etherion again (and we ALL remember what Etherion was like…don’t we 😐 It almost killed my most sexy Erza-sama and Natsu…burrnnnn Etherion, for you have sinned shining your evil light down on the Erza!) Doranbalt (can I just call him Mest? ‘Cause the periodic table name is really getting to me) desperately tries to defend Fairy Tail saying they are in no way similar to Zeref and Grimoire Heart (he’s right though, give him props for having a conscience).
He should know the good that is Fairy Tail after all, as he spent a lot of time with them, undercover and knows of the wonderful, big, warm family they are (these moments are part of his flashbacks in the manga. P.S. his worried/guilty face is sooo adorable. I really want to bully him a little:|). However Laharl reminds him that it is not their choice to make and he must hurry and contact HQ (personally, I don’t think he’s gonna do it. What do you think?)
We quickly move to the next location where we see Caprico preparing to fight Lucy, Loki (Leo), Gray and Cana. More talking ensues as these guys reiterate the utter insanity of creating an ultimate magic world. Caprico admits to not knowing the full extent of Hades plan, but doesn’t seem bothered by this. Gray snaps at him and they are just about to clash when Loki stops them and says he’ll take care of it, sending the others to look for the other kin of purgatory. Gray insists that they should all fight together.
Loki refuses once more, cluing the others in on Caprico’s ancient magic, “Human Subordination” (yes, it is exactly what it sounds like, but I’ll leave you to read to get the details). But, as I’m sure we all know by now, Loki isn’t a human, but rather a Celestial Spirit, as such the magic has no effect on him. That being said he powers up into his Leo form (SEXY!!! spiky hair and fancy suit!!) We also find out that Caprico is in fact a…(READ THE CHAPTER). Loki then requests a one on one battle with Caprico, while the others escape, but not before Lucy demands his return to her, no matter what. (Kya! I’m a total LucyxLoki fan to be honest guys.)
An epic battle scene (much up to Hiro’s standards, I was quite pleased), starts with Loki kicking it off…or should i say punching it off with a FALCON PAWNCH!!!! straight to Caprico’s chin (that HAD to hurt). Caprico, however, is quick to counter. Small talk ensues, with Caprico referring to himself as a “master who uses humans.” To prove his point, he summons an epic, ancient, spear-weidling dude, who delivers a massive blow to Loki. Loki is both floored and disturbed that he could summon a human. Caprico then asks Loki about his owner, Lucy. When asked why, he says because he wants to capture her and “use” her as well. However, in that split second, he realises who Lucy really is! Hiro-chan drops yet another bomb on his fans Caprico is actually…..READ THE CHAPTER!!!!!!!
Best Character: LOKI!!!!!!!! or should I say LEO! He is soooo sexy when he powers up! gyaaaa!! I mean how can you resist this?
However, I must say, he only had like, that one punch moment really, in which he was really epic. I found he was severely outshone by Caprico. That goat-dude person was just seriously epic in this chapter. Everything he did was like “whoa” Especially when he summoned ancient-warrior dude. The battle scene was really well done and he had some nice comebacks. Well done Hiro. But maybe I’m just a little biased. eheh. After all, Caprico is representative of my star sign (and I will forever be a Capricorn, no matter how many quack scientists try and change up the system with a snake handling dude -_-…..whoops, did I just give away a secret? XD) so I was quite proud/pleased that he was soo cool and had such an epic past and epic powers XD.
Sadly, didn’t have an epic fan art of him….*sigh* But yeah. He was a really cool villain (ignore my bias!) granted he turned kinda crazy toward the end…but you’ll see why. I think he had pretty good reason and hopefully more will be explained in the next chapter
Worst Character: Nothing to complain about here really. No one really did anything bad/horrible, and Ultear wasn’t in this chapter (thank GOD) sooo tee hee
Likes: Loki’s Falcon Punch, Loki powering up, Loki being sexy. Lucy telling Loki to make sure he returns to her (<3). Caprico being a badass and having a cool power.
Dislikes: All the talking and prepping in the beginning. It was kind of boring, but I suppose it was necessary, and luckily it didn’t take up too many pages. (Mest’s cute guilty face made up for it…fufufufu) Oh, speaking of Mest, his real name…epic fail. Dislike.
More Chapter Ratings:
§eraph: 7/10 – It was aiight…the goat dude did some cool stuff.
§tiggles: oh where oh where has our §tiggles gone? oh where oh where can he be?
Random Rant Time: Well, I guess I kind of ranted throughout the post…but, just to reiterate, I LOVE Loki/Leo, ever since the beginning and especially since the arc when we found out his real identity and Lucy totally bent backwards to save him. He’s definitely an awesome character, really powerful, and he’s also adorable and sweet. I want him and Lucy to have half-spirit babies please! They are one of my favourite pairings of all time.
I mean, how can you NOT think that is cute? **sigh**. Please Hiro-chan?
I shan’t reiterate my rants about Cobalt…I mean Doranbalt and Caprico though, this post is getting kinda long. lol
Ah, Chibi Lucy coverpage was cute though. Don’t you just love how every once in a while Hiro pokes fun at her boobs? lawl (see: lol)
