Mangaka: Hiro Mashima Title: 13 Women Drenched in Rain Rating: 8/10
Synopsis: Well, in the midst of the whip lash (somehow these past two chapters seem as if they came out REALLY close together), we continue where we left off. Lucy and Happy are trying to pull Natsu (who was too stupid to think of using his magic) out from under the rubble. After some discussing over what to do (look for Zeref, look for Cana, look for Grimoire Heart’s ship) they decide to return to the base the other FT members have created to begin their counter attack (in the words of Natsu “They laid a finger on the old man. You think I’m gonna let them leave the island now?” kyaaa!! He was sooo sexy/angry/powerful in this chapter! I absolutely love when he gets like that and gives the glare). We switch scenes to Cana’s location where she is on Route E of the testing grounds, looking for the first master’s grave (she’s also rambling about some “the person” who we still have no clues on). She sees a light but before she can act on it we make a sudden switch to Gray (don’t head toward the light Cana, EVERYONE knows, you should never go toward the light). Gray is cursing Cana when he sudden realises that she’s probably been sober all this time, which is a huge shock (LOL. Oh I do love the alcoholic in Cana. No wonder I think she’s such a beotch now, she’s not liquored up -_-). He then senses a presence and hides himself only to see Ultear dragging Zeref off to Hades. Gray notices the similarities between Ultear and Ul (who we all know by now is her mother) and of course this takes him aback, so he follows them.
There is a scene change. Hades is guffawing in a weird type of happiness at the strength of “Makarov’s kids” who have already taken out 3 of his 7 Kin. He is talking to some shadowed person, whose name is Bluenote. Bluenote wants to go to play with the others too, but Hades has forbidden him for the meantime. However, Bluenote decides that if another Kin falls, he’ll go out and “fly”. We make ANOTHER switch (lots of those in this long, and pretty much awesome chapter) back to the council ship where they are discussing Bluenote who we discover is…READ THE CHAPTER!!! He strikes so much fear into them that Captain Laharl decides to contact HQ, regardless of the consequences. Doranbalt (who will from now on be referred to as MEST, because I hate his real name) stops her and steals the communication lacryma, vanishing into thin air. In another change of scene we see Natsu and the others who have just reached Fairy Tail base camp thing, at that very moment, Mest appears in front of them with the lacryma. He says he’s willing to help the group out, allowing them to leave the island before all hell breaks lose. Of course, Natsu and the others stubbornly refuse. Mest, angry and shocked, tries to convince then again, but Natsu just gives him the epic Natsu cross staredown (NATSU ANGRY! NATSU SMASH!!) and says, in one of the most EPIC panels/lines EVER “Anyone who lays a finger on the guild is an enemy. And I’ll destroy them all.” (Kyaaaaaaaaaaa!!! GO NATSU!!!)
We then make our final scene switch (thank God) to Erza-sama (kya!), Lluvia and Meredy’s location where their fight is still hot and blazing and Lluvia is still getting pwned. Apparently, Meredy has a ranking order in which she kills people (based on strength, threat and I believe how much she hates ’em as well) and has decided to place LLuvia at 13th place and Erza at 4th. Erza quickly requips into “The Knight” and tries to defend Lluvia/distract Meredy, but Meredy relentlessly aims her swords at Lluvia. Erza, frustrated, demands to know why. Meredy insists that Lluvia is just “trash” and thus will be taken care of first. As the mighty Erza-sama delivers an onslaught of attacks (which Meredy, annoyingly, calmly defends) Meredy reveals the other rankings and apparently Gray is the one she desires to kill the most. She then goes all psycho (*sigh* Grimoire Heart and their psychos) and declares (psychotically, I’m talking scary eyes and everything) that the man who hurt “her” Ultear will never be forgiven. She then launches a ferocious attack at Erza-sama, who looks as if she wouldn’t be able block when all of a sudden a wall of water appears and totally pwns the magic swords, tossing ’em aside like nothing. Lluvia makes a comeback PISSEEEEDDDDDD as a bat from hell. (KYAAAA!!!! SHE was soo EPIC this part! I can’t get over it, I almost died). Rain (which we haven’t seen for a while around Lluvia, strangely) begins to POUR and with the most deliciously demented, pissed off look I’ve seen in a LONG time in FT she questions in the scariest way “Whose life did you say you were after?” You HAVE to read the chapter to see how she looked during this panel. She even startled the great Erza-sama who was actually trying to calm her down. ERZA trying to CALM someone down. Imagine it…better yet, READ IT!!!
* Sorry if this seems kinda long guys, but in my defense, the chapter is longer than usual and a lot happened.
Best Character: NATSU and LLUVIA
Worst Character: -_- that is all I shall say.
Likes: Natsu getting cross, Lluvia getting INSANE. This is what I like to see from FT (and using Natsu as an example):
Yes, we do enjoy the insane power ups very, very, VERY much.
Dislikes: Cana being an idiot **sigh** and sober. If I were to go all feminist up in this shiznick (lol), I’d say I also didn’t really like how it had to come down to Gray for Lluvia to grow a pair and go insane and get to sharing a solid ass-whooping BUT everyone has their thing, right? And Gray is most DEFINITELY Lluvia’s thing. haha. Also, on a serious note, what stopped this chapter from being an 8.5, is really it’s content. It felt as if Hiro was cramming way too much into the chapter. There was a lot of jumping, a lot of development in several different areas. And we were just jumping back and forth and back and forth. And while I do love the action and the fact that everything is progressing nicely (and rapidly) it felt like a liiiiiitttllle bit tooo much for me.
More Chapter Ratings:
§eraph: 8/10 – Maho-Binding!! xD I really appreciated the colour pages. This chapter was very VERY powerful. Some awesome character and plot development going on – iLIKE! In all, a very Fairy Tail (i.e. EPIC) chapter!
§tiggles: 8/10 – Moment of the chapter: not Lluvia’s zombie moment; not Natsu getting in what’s-his-name’s face; not even the nice colour images. No, the moment of the chapter was Natsu sitting LIKE A BOSS. page 7. lol.
Random Rant Time: First of all, let me say I really enjoyed the colour pages in this chapter. THey were really beautifully done XD. I do love me some colour pages.
Second order of business: Lluvia, Lluvia, my darling, sweet, insane, funny, Gray-crazy, Lluvia, you made my blood boil and race this chapter. That last page absolutely gave me the shivers. I mean, you actually caught Erza off guard. To tell you the truth, I was beginning to get really disappointed, because I had honestly thought that you were going to go down and out in the most ridiculous, stupid, unpredictable, uncalled for manner much like Mira-Jane (I’m STILL upset about that by the way). But, you made a comeback. You might have made it for a man, which kinda gets the girl power side of me twitching just a little bit 😛 BUT like I said before, everyone has their someone and if I have to settle for Gray stimulation just to see you kick some ass, then settle for Gray stimulation I more than will. But that’s only because I love Gray, AND I love Lluvia and Gray together. They make me laugh, a LOT. Especially whenever I remember their first battle. hahahaha. Protect each other to the DEATH guys!!! Gray, don’t be a pu***! Though, I suppose if I look at it as female protecting male (role reversal all the way!) then it’s not as pro-male power as I thought XD. Go Lluvia!!!
I just think this is the epitome of sexy, btws. See the sexy determined look?
