Mangaka: Tite Kubo Title: End of the Bond 1 Rating: 6.5/10
Synopsis: This week’s chapter picks up from last weeks without any annoying, but almost expected scene switches. What’s this? No deviations from the pointless main story to other pointless clips of Isshin and Kisuke? Hmm… 0.5 points to Gryffindor then.
Ichigo and Gingo follow a brainwashed (my Spider senses detect a plot twist coming!) Yukio to a mansion in the forest to supposedly have THE FINAL BATTLE!!! with Tsukishima. There, he finds family and friends holding some kind of welcome back party for him…even though he was only gone for like, I dunno, an hour. Well, instead of cake and ice cream, Ichigo is treated to a little brainwashed chanting that makes him wear the “I’m on hard drugs” face he’s used a lot of late. Unable to take this (brainwashed loved ones are so annoying) he runs off and bumps into the other Fullbringers and Tsukishima of course.
Ginjo now makes it so they can all have some quality time together without civilians interfering and Ichigo proceeds to…wait for it…actually fight. Oh yeah, it’s morphin’ time baby; another 0.5 points for you. The following pages go by very quickly, so if you’re a fast reader I recommend slowing down. You’ll want to assimilate every pixel of these as their like that one shot of rum after a month of boring, hard labour in a North Korean camp; very refreshing. Here we see a little of what the Black Ranger, I mean Ichigo, can do! The chapter then closes by putting the acrobatic protagonist into a situation of utter despair. Bravo! A full 1.5 points; you’re on a roll now aren’t you? And I’m not going to say any more because I detest spoilers.
Likes: Something finally happens; that’s enough, right? And that Ichigo seems to have magically learned Instant Transmission. Take heed Ichigo, there are many companies getting sued for copyright infringement; better hope Goku doesn’t find out about this.
Dislikes: While we’re getting closer to the truth, most of the chapter was (again) nonsense. Oh, and I’m sure everyone’s already come to this conclusion, but Ichigo’s new fullbring looks rather…well, gay. No more suave, zangetsu-like energy cloak… First Aizen’s sheet-man and butterfly forms…now this… What is really going on here?
More Chapter Ratings:
mu§e: 6/10 Bleach is so predictable at the moment. I give Ichigo props for the insane control he has oveor the full bring but other than that everything was just meh…I kidna guessed that the development would end up this way but I don’t feel like there’s anything done to even try to hype it up a little. Moreover, I still think Tite is dragging his feet. The chapters still seem to be going pretty slowly and I dunno…honestly, I’m just not feeling it. There’s probably nothing more to it than that.
Random Mental Impulse: Well I haven’t watched Bleach anime in probably around a year now, but from what I hear the current fillers are gonna end soon; maybe. A friend once said, it’s pretty bad when the fillers for a series are actually better than the main arc, but at least all the foolishness of recent times can probably be condensed into 2 or 3 episodes MAX. What I find ironic, however, is an phenomenon that will occur with the American dubs of the series. See, I know I carry on about how much Ichigo now looks like a Power Ranger (or a VR Trooper as someone pointed out to me); I plan to keep doing so until either it gets old or his look changes. But what really tickles me pink is that the American voice actor, Johnny Young-Bosch, was actually the Black Ranger in Mighty Morphin’. Yes, childhood memories are resurfacing about now huh. Funny how life works, eh?
