Mangaka: Masashi Kishimoto Title: The Past VS. The Present Rating: 7/10
Synopsis: Toroi, a magnet-element bloodline limit user, attacks two random shinobi. Naruto eventually steps in and takes him out Rasen-style. Then…KABUTO!!! Naruto and Bee have a little chit chat with the shinobi dudes and then they continue to make their way to the battlefield. The Kazekage and the I-can’t-remember-kage team up to fight the revived Kage who are busy expressing their displeasure at having to fight against their own. Gaara shuts them up by sending a massive wave of sand their way. His revived father counter attacks with Gold Dust and manages to stop the sand in a way that would have made Tinkerbell proud (me and my lame jokes -_-) Gaara reveals himself to his father who, up until that moment, thought he was being attacked by Shukaku, the One Tailed Beast. Ah, Oonoki jumps out of hiding and unleashes his Dust Element Sub Atomic Separation Technique but one of the revived Kage counters with something-or-the-other and the result is a mammoth crater in the ground. Whoa, Temari (I forgot she still existed) and a large group of shinobi are waiting patiently for the signal to attack. When questioned by his father of the whereabouts of the Shukaku, Gaara replies by saying that it is gone and that he is no longer the Jinchuuriki that he created. Huzzah!
Likes: Another fairly good chapter! Even though nothing of great consequence really happened this week, the board has been set and the pieces are definitely moving. We’re finally going to see Gaara fight again! Yay! And Temari! Double Yay! I have high hopes for this battle. I hope it doesn’t disappoint. Gaara better be able to take out his father without a problem though. Orochimaru basically called him a weakling from what I can remember. Would Gaara hesitate to kill his father? Um, I hope not. I mean…it’s Gaara. He won’t start menstruating like an idiot and hesitate to kill his dad with the whole, I-am-not-like-you crap. Right?
Dislikes: This is a general dislike – Every time I see Kabuto I just have to shake my head in disappointment. He used to be one of my favourite characters villain-wise but now he disgusts me. I HATE it when cool bad guys turn bipolar and dramatic but when you throw in a bit of Orochimaru then it’s just overkill. Orochimaru has to be one of the nastiest villains I have come across in manga.
More Chapter Ratings:
mu§e: 7.5/10 – 😐 I can’t believe I can honestly give Naruto such a good rating without any feelings of guilt. I was really quite pleased with this chapter. Things are FINALLY beginning to move again and looking up. Plus it was amazing seeing my favourite sexy Gaara do his sand thing once more and this time against his father :O the war of the past vs those who have inherited the future is beginning to look more and more interesting and more and more dramatic. I sincerely hopes Kishi keeps this up and climaxes it well…we’ll see.
tempe§ta: 7/10 – Loved this chapter. Gaara’s dad’s face is priceless n lol: “Ninja Magneto”. This is what we expect from the war.
Random Hot Topic: *Ahem* Soooo do you think ANYTHING is going to happen between these two? Sasuke couldn’t care less about Sakura. Poor girl. He tried to kill her the last time they met. Why does she still like him? 😐
