Synopsis: “What will happen now?” Well, what won’t happen now? Apparently the wait is over for all of you who were just about to write Bleach off as a waste of time. Something has happened here today…something, in comparison to recent chapters, pretty big.
As you may recall, in last week’s chapter Ginjo was by Tsukishima and is assumed to have had some soap applied to his brain. Ah, squeaky clean! But wait, could it be? For some reason, Ginjo was unaffected by Tsukishima’s attack and still considers Ichigo his friend, and our cerebral custodian his enemy. Ishida finally arrives on the scene and a little chit-chat between the two teens ensues, as the now intensely paranoid Ichigo tries to discern whose side his pal is on. And that’s about all I’ll say this time. Aside from what I’ve mentioned, there’s only one more thing to be noted about the chapter and it’s the idea the whole thing hinges on; the twist. ‘Nuff said.
Likes: No more gang-violence! Actually, this chapter was almost completely devoid of violence. While this would usually take it back to being the same as the many preceding installments, the twist and events following it kinda makes up for that. Not much more to say really, except I’m pretty interested to see how Ichigo’s gonna wiggle out of this little pickle.
Dislikes: It’s back to the old formula of conversation this week. While it caught me off guard, the twist might be a little underwhelming for others. I’m not the kind of person who reads deeply into things like manga with an analytical mind, so perhaps for the analysts out there it would be painfully obvious.
Yes, so this week’s review is ridiculously short. And that’s because the entire chapter was essentially based on the plot twist; not quite sure how they managed to make it fill 19 pages, but whatever. A decent chapter despite having the least content I’ve ever seen in any manga chapter ever (as far as I can remember anyhow). Let’s hope the trend of plot progression continues along this relatively interesting path into the future.
More Chapter Ratings:
mu§e: 6.5/10 – I really want to give Bleach better ratings, because they are improving from the crap from before and it is getting good agan but something in me just won’t. I don’t know if I can’t take the cheesiness or the fact that I roll my eyes everytime I see certain things…like Ginjo’s betrayal. I am glad however that they readdressed that because I was wondering about it.
§eraph: 6/10 – After Aizen’s betrayal, they come up with this type of drama again? Okay…okay. Um, I guess we just have to continue hoping that the coming chapters (probably the more distant ones) will exceed our expectations…
Random Mental Impulse: The human body is an amazing thing, wouldn’t you say? It’s so fragile, yet so durable and can handle so much hardship and mistreatment. Let’s take binge drinking for example; the destruction of both brain and liver cells due to alcohol. Yet do we become stupid? Well, yes…but that’s after a VERY long time. We can drink Coca-Cola, which is seriously harsh stuff and let’s not even talk about smoking… Then there’s the more amazing stuff, like falling from the fifth floor and surviving (I’ve heard falling from a plane even). But the most amazing one I’ve ever happened upon has to be a dude from the recent Norway incident. He lay down amongst the corpses and the psycho shot him, point blank (you know, double-tap kinda thing) and he didn’t even so much as FLINCH! Yes, he’s still alive; I listened to the BBC report a few days ago. With all this durability, it’s amazing that sometimes we just trip and land the wrong way and then wind up in front of the Pearly Gates, don’t yuh think?
