AMVs have been around since people realized you could paste an audio track onto a video and have shit happen, aka, a really long damn time ago. To me, they represent fan creativity and dedication far beyond simple fanfic or fanart and deserve their own section.
In this little, random corner of mine I’ll show you the wonders of the internet as talented AMV creators fight to the death for my approval. They will be pitted against ordeals, the likes of which man has NEVER seen. They will be pushed to the limit as their works are judged by my discerning eye and/or nose. If they fail….there will be no pity. THERE WILL BE NO MERCY! Well, no, not really….but let’s get this ball rolling!
Do you remember your childhood? It was f***ed up wasn’t it?
Don’t worry though, I’ll take you back to a time when you used to run home from school to watch some of the most epic shit of your sad little life. You know what I’m talking about. Those classic shows that made your little heart tremble and your grades bad because you could not miss an episode. Here are 3 of my earliest and favourite AMV’s!
You remember this, right? Gohan going from a 2 foot tall, purple clothed midget to a 7 foot tall pillar of muscle and explosions. I loved this song because it basically showed you exactly how the kid’s life really was. He had to be the protector, the superman, no matter how young or how weak he was. Shit ALWAYS fell on him, and he always blew the everliving f*** out of it. What would happen if Gohan really flipped and went crazy? Just thinking about that makes me feel doomed and he’s not even real!
Ah, Naruto. How you used to amuse me, before you got all bloaty and annoying and filled with…whatever Naruto is filled with nowadays. Before Sasuke turned into an emu and ran away like a female dog, etc etc.
Just watch the video, lol.
This is pretty much the perfect song to describe Kenshin Himura. The reluctant samurai who swore to never kill again, but who is drawn to violence because of his altruistic personality. Poor Kenshin, definitely one of the sadder stories for any anime…
DISCLAIMER: Obviously, SMFG owns nothing here.
