Mangaka: Eiichiro Oda Title: So Grotesque I Could Fly Rating: 8/10
Synopsis: So this chapter starts off with lots of talking, blablabla, don’t care, blablabla, something about a water shot etc etc. So far, I’m not impressed. Then, Brook whips out a move we have never seen before, some sort of genjutsu which makes the enemies see pretty things when in fact they’re being cut up and shtuff. Hmm, not bad. Let’s move on. We then have my husband’s apprentice doing his thing, a triple sword style whirlwind thing, (a whirlwind of blades) which will cut up his enemies to the ends of hell. His does his usual I-am-awesome pose after unleashing his whirlwind of hellish fury. *sniff*, My honey bun would be so proud! Or maybe not.
Anyway! Some porcupine dudes (Sea Urchin Spine Squadron) surround Sanji and to our extreme surprise and delight, he unleashes his EPIC-EST most HILARIOUS-EST move EVA!! (read chapter for details). Wow, 100 epic points for you bro. Don’t look now Sanji, its Robin’s turn to show off her shtuff and she’s got some giant sexy legs (they aren’t really sexy tbh, but whatever), which start crushing all and sundry. We then have Furrranky rolling out on his batcycle and Usopp and Chopper both have some special weapons of their own. Naturally, pwning ensues. HowEVER, Hodi Jones summons…..the Kraken.
Likes: I am impressed. The battle was pretty organized, easy to follow, and just plain epic. Sanji was a BAWSE. He had his shining moment this week (see chapter title). Everyone else did pretty well in the fighting department (‘cept Luffy who was being his usual silly self. I love that part of him.) 10 cool points to Franky for providing some useful artillery (nice artwork right there) for the Straw Hat Crew. Where does he keep these things? Anyway, this chapter felt like One Piece. You know, the sort of chapter we expect to read, not the nonsense we’ve been forced to endure for so long. If was fun, funny and entertaining. I am satisfied. Oh yes, the general lack of Shirahoshi was also ossm.
Dislikes: It took so long for this to happen. In retrospect Oda, did you really need all that build up? So many unnecessary (i.e. boring) chapters for weeks on end for a manga that is already over the 600 chapter mark with no end in sight. Please don’t do that to us again -_- By the way, Jinbei has absolutely no sense of cool.
More Chapter Ratings:
mu§e: 8/10 – FINALLY. One of the best chapters I’ve seen in a while, and Oda-sensei seems to be back on track. I must confess, I was reading with mild disinterest for a while and then Sanji just had this moment which blew my mind away and honestly, he’s probably the sole reason this chapter got a 8. I was just like…wow “I was running from those grotesque monsters. I ran and ran until I couldn’t run anymore…and then…I FLEW” He is just so hardcore and so epic. Totally made the chapter for me. Of course, the other moves and the way this team just works together was totally doing it for me as well. Clean battle sequence. Hody got a thorough spanking. He snapped at the end, let’s see what the next chapter brings. I’m actually looking forward to it.
Random HOT Topic: Yes, this is my darling husband. So strong, so smart, so scary, so special, so sensual, so suave, so SEXY, so much of everything that is awesome and epic in this world. Gawd! SeraphxMihawk4ever! ♥ XD
