Mangaka: Hiro Mashima Title: Right Beside Each Other Rating: 8/10
Synopsis: The Exceed are examining what seems to be the power source, but up to now we don’t know what it is. They get bombarded by guards who try to stop them, however, Panther Lily probably drank some awesome sauce for breakfast and went all “rawr” on all of them, transforming into his big size and stealing one of their swords to fight them off. Sword turns out to be just like his old one, so he totally started to kick ass.
Change of scenes! Back to where Hades is powering up on our little group, and explaining his definition of magic, and what he hopes to gain from Zeref’s revival. Anyway, with his awesome charge up of magical power, he begins to summon demons from nothing but the earth 😐 (Read Chapter for details) and everything starts falling apart from there. No one can move, everyone is trembling in fear, and it looks as if our brave warriors are down for the count. BUT! Natsu (it’s always Natsu :\) remembers what he learnt some 40 chapters (maybe not so much) from Gildarts about fear and encourages the group to press on for they will always have each other’s back blah blah blah, the usual “we are not alone, we are comrades” speech.
Propelled by Natsu’s moving words, they gather all that is left of their strength and start charging toward Hades. Natsu trips BUT Wendy and Lucy grab his hands and throw him forward (lol, I’m still not sure how those two, especially Wendy, managed to toss him that far. Natsu has a lot of muscle, he probably weighs more than the two of them put together, but that’s a different issue). Zooming toward Gray and Erza, those two do an amazing double kick combo to his feet, propelling him even further forward at a greater speed. Natsu’s on a direct collision course for Hades who’s putting everything into his demons…we see the exterior of the ship which suddenly bursts into flames 😐 What happened, Hiro-chan!!!!????
Likes: I loved watching my fairies struggle with everything they have to defeat the opponent, even though it was a bit cheesy, and repetitive -_-. I really wanted someone else to kick Hades’ ass. You have NO idea, how much I just want some random person to punch him down. But, I love Natsu, so I suppose I’ll take what I can get. Also, I loved seeing Erza and Gray’s moment with that kick. They had a LOT of awesome combination moves in this arc. So epic. Eager to see what happens in the next chapter.
Dislikes: I really don’t like Hades anymore. Even though he did that epic thing where he actually got back up, his character is just…horrible. Like…the more this fight prolongs, the more I realise what a petty, bitter, stupid, old man he is. I don’t care who does it, but can we please get rid of him already? I’m also tired of all the comrade speeches. This is probably the 3rd one this chapter :\. Nonetheless, my pet peeves aside, I still think it was a very good chapter. Hiro-chan knows his art. I must say.
More Chapter Ratings:
§eraph: 7.5/10 – An okay chapter. I’m over Hades now. I suppose he looks more evil and scary with his new do. I’m also over demons. It’s so overdone. SO overdone. You disappoint me Hades. By the way, we shouldn’t be surprised be when Natsu does the impossible by getting up again after being thoroughly pwned. We should expect it. It’s Natsu -_- However it’s becoming a bit too repetive (and a bit annoying – to me). I did love the way Erza and Gray used their legs to propel Natsu forward. That was kind of cool. As usual I’m looking forward to the next chapter.
Random Rant Time: Meh. I be out of rants. I have no idea what to rant about so I shall rant about Natsu X Lisanna. How many of you guys think they NEED to be together…like NOW. This. Exactly. Now. With little Natsus running around all over too. Reference picture below.
