Mangaka: Eiichiro Oda Title: The General from the Country of the Future Rating: 7.5/10
Synopsis: It’s Sunday! 🙂 It’s such a nice and tranquil morning here. So breezy. So peaceful. So calming. A perfect time to review this week’s One Piece. I’m starving, so this will be quick. Surume the Kraken completely ignores evil Hody, and smilingly obeys uncle Luffy instead. Franky and his team encounter some issues with their artillery caused by the most annoying fish-dude (Darume) who’s just begging for disembowelment. Franky does not let this dismay him. He comes back with……DOCKING! Sugoiiii! Ikeeee!! General Frrraanky-sama!!!
Moving on, Nami gets her fight on as well, but sadly, her weather powers aren’t that cool. Too bad. Darume (the one that’s always saying Kya kya kya! like some fan girl on some serious cocaine) encounters Chopper the stag beetle! The Kraken begins to have mixed feelings when Hodi threatens to hurt his siblings but uncle Luffy promises to protect them from Hodi. Luffy then starts to make the EPIC trek over to Hodi. Zorro and Sanji make a clear path for him, cleanly pwning every bastard that tries to touch their cap’n. THEN in a flash of movement that NOBODY sees, he flash steps over to Hodi and……(read the chapter!) Meanwhile, THE-SHIP-THAT-MUST-NOT-BE-MOVED…..is moving.
Likes: Ahh I was entertained. Everyone’s finally pulling their weight instead of depending on others like they did back in the day (Nami & Usopp). Luffy looked so dangerous and ossm while walking over to Hodi and Zorro and Sanji were basically bitch-slapping all the fish-dudes who tired to get in the way. That was nice. Very nice.
Dislikes: Hodi hasn’t done didley squat! He’s lame. A lame and weak villain I tell you! I hate him. He sucks. Yeah. Apart from some of the characters getting their epic on (like Sanji with his sky walk) nothing has really impressed me in this arc. The other villains that we have seen in One Piece were more impressive. I was expecting a nice upgrade in villainy seeing that this is a new era, a new-ish world that should be ripe with stronger antagonists. Hodi you SUCK. He’s a bit on the ignorant side as well so that’s also a disappointment. I like my villains intelligent, devious and ridiculously strong. He just sits there and laughs, curses humans, and waits for shit to happen and then gets his ass kicked. Luffy shouldn’t be dirtying his hands with this one. Ugh. He’s not worthy.
They’re all just a big joke. Take Decken for example. He made me chuckle a few times but when the funny site of him wore off he just became really annoying and lame. A big let down….like all the other bad fishmen. They’re all a definite down grade from the villains of the past. Maybe we should be looking at this arc from an adventure standpoint rather than a fighting standpoint? I dunno. Anyway, I hope we’re not getting into a long and drawn out explanation regarding the Noah. I sense evil: more flashbacks. Please don’t do that to us again Oda-san. Please? Keep it simple. Keep it short and sweet. And then let’s wrap it up and get out of here.
Sorry for the late review by the way! And I know I implied it would be short but I couldn’t help it. Anyway, I’m off to make some breakfast…
More Chapter Ratings:
mu§e: 7.5/10 – Solid. I was pretty pleased with this chapter. It’s moving along fairly nicely. Everybody’s pitching in with the fight now and we’re seeing lots of new moves from Chopper and Nami and Usopp. My absolute favourite parts however was when Zoro and Sanji totally pwned those two fishmen coming after Luffy when he was approaching Hody. Then there was that amazing kick that Luffy put right in Hody’s face almost turning it the other way…just too beautiful for words. I’m interested in seeing what “that day” that King Neptune was referencing is about and why that ship can’t be moved but I suppose that’s for the next chapter or two. Keep up the good work Oda! Don’t fail me now!…again, I can’t with all these manga failing.
Random Hot Topic: Kyapten Bagi-senchou!!! He entertains me. He’s in today’s One Piece episode 🙂 And so is the “handsome” Duval-sama! *awkward wink* lol.
